Interested In a Job? Jump On It Yesterday!

You see or hear about a job you’re interested in. You’re eager to apply or speak with the recruiter, but first you want to do some due diligence, so you give yourself a few days to scope it out. 

That delay could hurt you. 

Even with it being a bit of a “job seeker’s market,” hiring managers regularly get deluged with resumes. Unfortunately, if you wait to submit, you run the risk of being passed by in the rush of candidates, whether they’re qualified or not. 

Ideally, apply for a job the day you learn about it or respond to that recruiter to have that exploratory call. We advise keeping your resume and LinkedIn profile up-to-date, even if you decide to customize it for a specific opportunity that arises. 

There will be time to do your preliminary research on the role and the company, and depending on the number and types of interviews and assessments, you’ll have time to prepare and go deeper.  

Taking that initial step quickly to put your hat in the ring could make all the difference in whether there is a next step.
